- The living room has been painted
- The upstairs hallway has been painted
- The bathroom has been painted and I think the shower surround has been installed. Flooring, toilet, vanity with sink, and medicine cabinet need to be installed, but should be very soon. My MIL is trying to get my FIL to finish by the end of this month.
- Kitchen counter tops should be installed in the next couple of weeks. They ended up being about $700 more expensive than the original estimate, so we need to pay the balance and then I think home depot will finish.
- We still need to purchase the flooring for the first floor, but we can wait on that. We have a level floor right now, it’s just subfloor though. We’ll get there when we have a little more cash. We do need to get the floor installed upstairs though, especially in Freddie’s room.
- We need to paint the kids rooms. We’ll figure out our room later on. There’s disgusting wallpaper from the 1970’s that I need to figure out if I can just paint over or if I need to spend hours scraping off the walls.
Big update about my brother-in-law. Quick backstory: my husband’s brother moved to New Orleans about 2 years ago because he tried to move his girlfriend into my FIL’s house and they got into a huge fight and my FIL kicked my BIL out. They were homeless for a few weeks, then relocated to New Orleans and have been living there ever since. Everything seemed ok. He had gotten a job and they had an apartment, all the pictures we saw were of him happy, and life seemed good. Apparently, the gf up and left one day, took everything he had, he’s getting evicted, and he started going to something like AA. He’s had an alcohol problem for years and I guess he went to his first meeting the day she left. He called my husband tonight out of the blue and told him everything. I guess he’s going to drive to Orlando to my MIL’s house to stay with her and start over. I’m really glad he’s finally admitting he has an alcohol problem and getting himself together. My husband might be flying down to New Orleans in a couple of weeks to drive with his brother to his mother’s house. It’s about a 10 hour drive, maybe a little longer, and he needs someone to drive with him. So we’re waiting on details from my BIL to figure out some stuff, especially financially with the flights. I might need to take another vacation day in case Dann can’t get back to NY in time for work and all that, but we’ll figure it out. My BIL can be a douche, but I think it’s mainly been from the alcohol. We’ll always be there for him when he needs us. Dann even told him about the house renovation and he seemed ok, so that’s good. Hopefully everything works out and everyone is ok.
Tomorrow, masks are optional in all NYC schools. I’m very excited to see my kids faces. The infection rate is less than 1%, so I think we’re ok. No social distancing either :) It’s going to be a good week. I can feel it.

Also, Abbott Elementary is such an awesome show! It really speaks to how inner city public schools are run. The teachers get too much time to chat and hang out, but it’s a tv show so can’t really expect much else. It’s really good though.
