Borderlands 2 Vita verdict in Tales of Transhumanism

So. I've spent the last two days playing Borderlands 2 on the PS Vita, and I can honestly say, without bias of any kind, that it is the tits.

It's not perfect, by any stretch of the imagination; it's slightly more unstable than the console/PC versions. Textures take a while to load in. The framerate drops fairly noticeably in Sanctuary. These are all issues that are immediately noticeable, but are also most definitely patchable. It's not a huge problem - it's going to be fixed. The pros most definitely outweigh the cons.

And there are pros. Fuck's sake - it's Borderlands 2. On a hand-held. You can play this wherever you fucking want. That alone is awesome. Sure, multiplayer is capped at two players per game, but fuck - this game is not something you wanna play with three random strangers anyway. The number of times I've killed something huge only to have the loot taken by another person (and always Legendary gear, too) adds up to me not wanting to play if I'm always going to be outclassed by cheating assholes who don't split loot. I'm cool with not having more than one other guy in my games.

Another immediate pro of this version is the price. £20, plus two add-on campaigns and a bunch of DLC. That's a bargain in any language. No-brainer.

I thought that I might have an issue with the fact that no character models have shadows. I haven't even noticed that. I guess that's probably because I just spent a month or so playing Borderlands 1 on my laptop without shadows, but it could also be because the game is fast enough that you're too busy to notice anyway. People bitching about the frame-rate being less than 60FPS are whiny little fucks who I have no time for. Sometimes it dips below 28. Big fucking deal.

No, I can honestly say that Borderlands 2 Vita Edition is a fantastic port, one that doesn't deserve the hatred it's getting from the mainstream game review websites. And if you look at the comments sections on each of these sites you'll find that most of the people actually playing the game say the same thing: It has flaws, but it's Border-Fucking-Lands 2, which is awesome, in your friggin' pocket. The people slating it? 9/10 times they haven't even played it. I mean, sure, it has it's issues, but every game does at launch these days. A patch will improve the stability and the performance (as promised by the devs themselves) and these assholes can shut up.

Gamers are weird.

Anyway, I love it. A solid 8.5/10 for me - higher once they roll out the patch.

Oh, and I've been taking some fucked up screenshots, so expect those soon.

Anyway, that's that. See you later, I'm in the middle of a game, and playing this is far more important to me than talking about it. Hells to the yeah.
