Good Morning Thursday!!
It is 8 a.m. and the temp is currently 22 degrees. We are probably as warm as we are going to get. The temp will gradually drop throughout the day. We will be in the single digits by midnight. It is cloudy and gloomy. A gray day so to speak. I don’t have any real plans for the day. Well, any outside of the house.
I am going to take a short walk when I finish here. Just around the court here. I don’t plan to drive into town. It got up to 55 degrees at one point yesterday. It was cloudy with bits of sunshine briefly. I got 2 walks in yesterday. I just walked the circle in town several laps. I just put my headphones in and go. I am so looking forward to spring so I can get out more.
My plans for inside the house. I clean out my fridge on Thursdays because the trash guy comes tomorrow. So I always take my trash bin to the curb late Thursday afternoon. Then I am going to do a little meal prepping. I will boil eggs for snacks, breakfast, and salads. I will cook some meats (chicken, and ground beef). Again for salads, pasta dishes, tacos. I will see what I have here to create other meals for the next 2 weeks. So I can try to avoid going to the grocery store for the rest of the month. I went and got a few more things yesterday so I only have around $20 left on my ebt card. The only thing I should need to get before next month is maybe milk and eggs. And of course cat food. Cat food is so hard to find right now. Mira eats a can of wet food a day and then she always has dry food in her bowl. Wet food is what is scarce. I have ordered her wet food on Amazon but it is even hard to get there. And now the price is jacked way up.
Our gas prices went up again. The price is now $3.29 a gallon. It went up 10 cents in a week again. It is really going to limit me to where I drive too. I am going to have to cut grocery shopping out of town to twice a month. Or when my EBT or snap benefit is cut I might have to go to ordering and having it delivered. I don’t do that right now because they won’t take my card online when I order. And I don’t want to pay with a debit card if I have the money on my EBT/snap card. I have had groceries delivered from Hyvee before. And I actually saved money. Because I stick to the grocery list and take advantage of store brands and sales more. The drawback is you do have to buy a membership to have the groceries delivered. It is $12.95 a month. But you are guaranteed to get your groceries in a set number of hours and there are some other benefits. And it’s cheaper than $5 for every delivery. You must have at least a $30 order to have a delivery. So I will probably start doing that once the snap benefit ends. I have heard that will be March 1st for Iowa. I would love to get it for one more month. But I don’t think that will happen. My regular allotment is only $20. So I will just let that accumulate or use it if I am stopping to pick up a few things and I am already in town. I will make the best of it.
I am concerned about what will happen as our economy gets worse. Once that snap benefit changes a lot of families are going to be hurting. Food pantries will be even more utilized. I know I can fall back on that if things get dire. But I will really try to figure things out with what I have first. People need it more than I do. I still see people out there booking vacations and spending money and I am not sure how they are doing it. Unless they are utilizing plastic. I think things are going to get worse before they get better. The price of meat and milk and almost everything is really is crazy high. I really try to watch for sales. And buy in bulk if I can afford it with meat. And then break it up. I pray that things change for the better soon.
I haven’t been reading as much as I was. My eyes have been watering and burning more since I had the last shots in my eyes. When I called the dr. they didn’t seem to be concerned. Put a warm compress on my eyes and keep using the shots for dry eyes. I think I have had a reaction to the new drug they used. I didn’t have this with the 1st shots. It is irritating. I am concerned as well that I didn’t get as good of a benefit from this shot as the last. I guess I will find out on 03/03. Some of it could be that I need a prescription for glasses. I am using cheaters. Blue light ones. And if they aren’t the right strength I wonder if that can’t contribute to this problem. They won’t give me a new script until I am done with the shots. It’s frustrating but I do understand.
Ok, I am going to get off the computer. Give my eyes a rest and get outside for a while for a short walk. It’s a great day to be alive.
Later,
Sheri

I always have "kitchen" days where I do a lot of prep. It saves time in the long run.
