Sorry I haven’t been reading and commenting…I’ll catch up one day!

  1. Looks like we’re not going to move over February break. Dann got the week off, so we are going to clean out the house and paint (get ready Ash!) and pack up our stuff. We’ll definitely be moving by April break, like we had originally planned. There’s just no way the house will be ready (my FIL still has too much stuff in there) and we need time to pack and set up a moving company and all that. But the day is inching closer.
  2. Kitchen is still happening. Dann and my FIL need to sand that one spot in the floor to level it out (for some reason they don’t want to spend the $150 for the contractor to do it), the replacement trash cabinet should be here Tuesday, the hardware should be here either tomorrow or Tuesday, and Dann is going to call Home Depot tomorrow and talk to the woman I’ve been talking to about the pantry cabinet. So I guess someone from HD came and picked up both damaged pantry cabinets, but they hadn’t started processing the return…and from my HD account it looks like they’re processing the return from one of the older receipts…and she didn’t know where the damaged cabinet had been taken to. So she was supposed to figure all of that out and call me back Friday but she didn’t. So Dann is going to try to take care of it tomorrow. Hopefully that means we can have our new pantry cabinet sometime this week and we can measure the countertops, order those, and figure out a time to get them installed. Still have to figure out the floor as well, but we’re getting there.
  3. I have an all day online workshop tomorrow. There are 3 sessions throughout the school year for all NYCDOE Arts teachers: election day, a day in January, and chancellor’s day in June. They’re called CityWide and for all music, dance, art, and theater teachers. Unfortunately, this January session is always a bust because the high schools are usually off for regents exams, but not the middle or elementary schools. This year is different because regents exams have been cancelled. However, my principal a couple of years ago decided that we cannot all take this PD day off. It would mean 5 cluster teachers out (3 music and 2 art teachers). It’s difficult to get subs, especially for clusters (but somehow when other teams need their PD days, they get it…once a bunch of teachers and admin went to Las Vegas for a PD altogether, no issue!) Anyway…she designated me to go this year, so I should be sitting quietly in my classroom all day on the computer, chillin. It should be a nice relaxing day, as long as the secretary remembers and put it on the schedule. I emailed her and my principal on Friday (forwarded them the reminder email I was given with the date, time, and links to the itinerary for the day). So hopefully after orchestra, I’m alone all day.
  4. Freddie cut Vivi’s hair today, so I had to take them to get haircuts. He was mad she was playing on the iPad and wanted it back, so he cut her hair. He used it child safety scissors I got him for kindergarten and he has access to because he likes to cut paper and make robots and things. I’ve been keeping them in his think box craft kit I got him for xmas. sigh boys…
  5. My music team and I are thinking about starting up our podcast again. We’re going to work out the details tomorrow. I think I’m also going to start my own YouTube channel with music teacher stuff on it: play along videos, silly songs, rhythm videos catered to prek, k, and 1st graders, read alouds…just anything I am doing in my classroom. The only thing I need to really think about is like copyright stuff and how to get around it. I know as a Little Kids Rock teacher, you always put “in the style of” with the song title and artist in any sheet music or video you might make, so that might work. I just need to look into it. I also need to work more on my teachers pay teachers account and really get that going. It’ll just be good to have extra income coming in overall, especially with transitioning into having a house.
  6. Dann and I have really been connecting lately. I don’t know what it is, but we’ve been laughing and joking and talking more. It’s been nice. Not that we weren’t talking and connecting before, but this feels more like when we started dating. It’s nice to feel the spark again. There’s so many stressful things happening and to know you’ve got someone to lean on and talk to and who understands fully is really comforting. I really love him so much.

Alright off to bed. Later!
