Under the high desert sun my skin began to burn. Much went wrong when It came to the camping trip I was whisked away to last minute over this weekend. I had no time to prepare for the time I was going to spend in the wilderness. This trip included my boyfriend and I, and his two best friends. When we arrived all of us met up with an older man they work with. This man Mike had been with two of his oldest friends. The most accurate description I could use to describe these two old friends was rubber tramping hippies. I spent all night around their campfire patiently listening to all the grand stories that spilled out of their mouths. Turns out these two hippies are middle school sweet hearts.
Than It hit me. I really want to find a love that grand. To be with one other person for that long is a big accomplishment. How many people can still say today that they have been married for 40 years? I was amazed how comfortable I felt with these people I had just met. Maybe it was only the alcohol telling me I was comfortable. None the less they had been very welcoming.
As the sun began to set, and the stars poked out, the wind began to settle, and the fire was raging on. I have never been this far out west. The camping experience was completely different compared to back east. First of all their was absolutely no trees. Second it was not like you had been camping on dirt, the ground was full of dry sand, and rocks.
Despite the fact that the tent I was going to be sleeping in was missing the door, and the fact that I have never been so sunburn in my life, also I had no time to pack the right camping gear. experiencing the open minded hippies, and the stars at night was well worth the trip. I have never seen so many stars in my life. I have no words for the beautiful star studded sky that night.
Now I return to the real word. Reality hit me hard, right in the throat. I am now stuck with a deathly cold, and roaring cough. Time for a nap in hopes I dream about that magnificent night time sky I was lucky enough to see.
