Time - 25.05.14 in Your Face

It's time to stop grumbling over my parents' failures. I am old enough to forge my own way in life (and have been old enough for some time now). I decide how much bearing they have on my life. I don't need to earn their love or respect - if they're not willing to love and respect the person I am (and I know that I am a decent person - if I was completely awful it would be a different story) then it is their loss.
I don't need to try to live up to mother's unrealistic expectations and attempts to live vicariously through me.
I don't need to try and maintain a relationship with my distant father, who has, once again, deleted me from his life in his usual cowardly fashion.
I am going to live my life as I wish, and as well as I can given life's inevitable challenges. Life is much easier if you let it take its course, instead of fighting against the current.

Wow, these words are words that I've spoken time and time again. I find as I get older that sometimes I really want that relationship with my parents, and its just not there. But it also makes me a stronger person because of it, and more proud when my way serves me right when my mother's way only makes her unhappy. Good luck & always be true to yourself.
