It has been a long time since my last entry! We are about 6 hours away from the new year, and I figured before 2022 arrives I would update. I don’t have any plans for New Year’s Eve. Probably just watch the ball drop. Kayla and Timmy are going out with some friends. Aaron is spending the night at a friend’s house.

I don’t think I every really wrote about this summer. We took a trip to New Orleans. It was a delayed senior trip for the twins. This was before Hurricane Ida. You can still see the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The more recent hurricanes also did a lot of damage.

It is still tough for many people. The tourism industry has really come back. It seems like there is music everywhere. The food is great but very spicy. I love the French-style architecture.

We also went to Houston. We went on a tour of the space center. It was very interesting and I learned a lot. We went to an Astros game.

We also took a trip to Biloxi, Mississippi. We went to the beach and saw the lighthouse with the Freedom Trail marker. We also spent a day on Ship Island. The first movie I can remember seeing in the theater without my parents is “Biloxi Blues.”

The first semester of the twins’ sophomore year of college was more “normal” than their first year. During their first year they had about half virtual classes. This past semester they had mostly in-person classes. We will see how things go this semester. The schools are requiring everyone to get booster shots, so hopefully that should help.

Timmy and Kayla have each joined Greek organizations on campus. Living in houses isn’t such a big thing on their campuses. It is more of a social organization.

Aaron ran cross-country. He is now running indoor track. He had a goal of how many miles he wanted to run this year and he finished it up today. His classes are difficult this year but he has been keeping up with his homework. He is also involved with Model UN and the environmental club at school. He has his driver’s license and sometimes drives to school. He has an idea of what he wants in a college but nothing definite yet.

Now I need to catch up with everyone. Happy New Year and hopefully we have a better year.
