Pesky Resolutions in 2022

I am going to place these in to different categories. Hopefully, that will make the most sense.
Self-Care
This is the big one! A goal this year- and one that I really should have made much sooner is to focus on myself and my own physical and mental well-being. In no particular order- eat better, lose some extra pounds, and exercise in general. I am not expecting miracles but 5-10 pounds would be nice and just generally being in better shape. This leads us to also quit smoking which will help with the better shape thing. The next thing I want to do is sketch or draw everyday. Nothing major, just something little each day. I also have some big artistic projects in mind that I have already started. I used to create so much and be so involved in artistic pursuits but since having kiddos I had fallen out of the habit. One goal, and a major one is to take time for me and to get back into it. The last thing that falls into this self care category is to write more often- I haven’t written my thoughts, feelings, stories, etc. in so long and I think it will help. Again, I am not expecting miracles but If I can write once a week, even if it’s just a few short sentences about what is going on then I will call that a win.
All of this will hopefully help me feel better about myself and help to build my own self-confidence.
The Girls
Basically, here- I just need to be a better parent. Not that I am a bad one but I make mistakes and I yell to much. I get to frustrated to quickly and I tend to not be as present as I should be at times. So the goal is to be more present, do more stuff with them- get out of the house more- covid willing. I also need to take more time to do one on one activities- particularly with Lyric. Between Aurora’s ADHD, ODD, and health issues and subsequent meltdowns and Selah’s neediness, Lyric is just kind of left to do her own thing.
Finances
This is already going better in years past. Covid was actually a godsend when it came to money. I need to keep the grove going- make on time payments, try to save a little money, stick to the budget and all that. Hopefully, I can find a way to make a little extra income, preferably with some sort of artistic pursuits. We shall see. So here- I just want to continue with the momentum. I would love to be renting or even buying a house within the next year or so.
location
I would like to move closer to my parents. They live an hour or so away and I would like to be more in their area. I could in theory commute to my current school but it would be outrageous considering the current trend in gas prices but it is doable for a bit. We shall see on this one- it depends directly with my previous resolution and my ability to save some money and continue to fix my credit.
Health
This is different then self care. The main thing here is to get my teeth fixed. They need loads of work (thanks genetics and being low income and not being able to afford to go to the dentist). I also need to see about finding a dermatologist to have a few spots checked out, get into to a regular PCP for wellness exams and such, and get some up with an GYN for all of that fun stuff.

Wow, that’s a lot! What are you going to do first?
I’ve seen people take a lot of different approaches to that drawing thing. Some people keep a “doodle diary” that’s a combination of writing and drawing. Someone I know did daily “sticky note sketches” and posted them up on a board throughout the year. Some were super detailed, others barely a stick figure. Seems like one you could have a lot of fun with!
