Words of love caress the soul
Warm embraces of hope
The scent of worn smoke
Hung on Her clothes.
Little one begged her not.
She did in front of little one’s eyes
Words can mean so much someone
So small and innocent.
Little one didn’t understand the
Pain that was yet to come.
A mother love was all little one needed
She tells her little one
She has to leave.
Tears of love and fear were
Shed that day
It wasn’t the first time she left
But she need to leave again
Unexplained answers linger in the
Little one’s heart.
Un asked questions floated
In the air.
How long? Where to? What for?
When will we see again?
Waves of goodbye not knowing
What was yet to come
Years past by fewer letters,
No visits that were promised
Little one was no longer little.
Grown up and now understanding
She’s not coming back now is she?
The little one asked
More years had flown, an appearance
Was made. Joyful times were brought.
Smiles were shone. Only to bring
More despair.
An afternoon, little one was to a usual therapy.
Only to find a sharp painful curse.
She had left, unwanted, not needing,
The little one.
The pain was beyond painful
It was horrifying. Pain that makes
You Wish you had been stabbed
Several times to ease pain.
The pain was from abandonment
Little one now knowing
They were useless, unworthy
A mistake. Pain that made blue skies
Hurt. Pain was all. The sobs of a dry throat
The pinching pain behind the throat, nose and eyes.
Sobs that scream but no sound was made.
Unbearable, little one made it through
A lot to know what pain is.
To know that she’s still barely alive.
