31 weeks! WOW! I know I say this like almost every week now, but I really cant believe its going so quickly! This was my first week of ALL of my doctors appointments and so far they all went well. Monday I had three and Friday I had 2. I started off the week on Monday at the Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor. That was cool because we got a nice ultrasound of the baby. She measured everything and it all looks to be going well. I actually measured a few days early, which is good, because I am going to deliver early! Baby weighed in at 3 lbs 6 oz, though I always take those with a grain of salt because they can be off by a pound. She even switched it to 3D a couple of times to try to get better pics of the face and stuff. Such a cute little face it is, with chubby little cheeks already. The baby had a hand in front of its face like it was being shy. She was jiggling my stomach and moving the wand around and it still wouldnt move, silly baby! The doctor came in and told me that everything looks good for now. They are probably going to give me steroid shots at some point to mature the lungs and all that. He said to keep doing what I am doing and we will keep on the same schedule with appointments for the time being. After that I headed over to the Non Stress Test. For that they take your blood pressure and hook you up to two little things on your stomach. One measures the babys heart rate and the other measures contractions. They leave you on it for 45 mins to an hour usually. The midwife came to meet with me to go over that and said that the baby is having great rates (I guess theyre supposed to go up and down with movements and sleeping and stuff) and that my uterus is not contracting right now, yay! Finally, I headed to my kidney specialist. He said that really once the baby is here we need to figure out what is causing this. We cant be sure at this point because the stress of the baby is just stressing my body out more. Everything as far as my blood and urine levels looks good except the protein. I like to be a mystery.
All of those appointments and I still got to work by 12:30. That was a busy and tiring morning. The work week was fine. I am trying my hardest not to let myself get stressed out at work and to remember that it is just work. I think since the wedding I am doing a much better job at that! I just know how bad the stress is for the baby and I REALLY dont want them to put me on bed rest. For the time being they are saying that I can be working and things but I should be in bed resting as often as possible. I just dont want them to up that to bed rest all the time. I'd be so bored...and I have only 2 weeks of sick time for work.
Friday I had an appointment with an OB that I Had never seen. She was wonderful and thinks that I may not be at risk for pre eclampsia but she really wants to watch my protein levels. Apparently the higher the levels the harder my kidneys are working. She said they will have to work on figuring out the balance between the baby being developed enough and when my kidneys will be permanently damaged. They obviously would like to give the baby as much time to grow in there as possible, but the dont want me to have kidney disease because of the stress of the baby. Kinda scary, but I know that they are monitoring me all the time, so its going to be okay. After that I went to have my second non stress test of the week. I also had to turn in my 24 hour urine collection at that time and do some labs. The labs came back after about an hour but the urine was taking a long time. I was at the hospital for close to 3 hours when the doctor finally came in and said I could leave. THANK GOODNESS! So I went to visit Heather, Jamie, and the kids. Baby James turned 4 weeks old yesterday...cutie!
I stayed there for a few hours and just hung out but I was really tired so I left just after 9 I think it was.
Saturday I went to Target in the morning. I got a TON of stuff...some groceries, some stuff we needed around the house, and then some baby stuff. I got a pack of diapers (I already have 1 1/2 packs from Heather and seeing as we dont know the size of the baby, I probably wont buy any more. I got the newborn size which is up to 10lbs. I got abig box of wipes, a book, and some butt creams. I needed a few things like that to feel like if this baby does come, I can be ready. I think my parents are going to get me the stroller/car seat which will be very helpful. Then we just need a pack and play and I think we can be ready for this baby. I mean, we will need a lot more but thats to start. I ended up spending $220 at Target..whoa! I had some coupons and 5% off so it was like $195. Lots of money but really all necessary things! Last night we had my friend Jenna's wedding. It was beautiful. The wedding was a full catholic mass at 2:30 pm and then the reception didnt start until 6:30 so we had some major time to kill. 4 couples went back to one of the houses and had some snacks and drinks. It was nice. The wedding was beautiful and fun. I didn't dance really, only to one song and 2 slow songs. I WANTED to dance but I was trying to listen to doctors orders, a little bit. Now, here we are, Sunday! I think we are going to Babies R Us to work on our registry today!
