So yesterday I finally saw The Shining. It was definitely different from the book and honestly it's hard to say which I liked best. In comparison what I liked about the book was Jack's humanity which was not present in the film at all. Possibly the best change of all would have to be the maze instead of... hedge animals... that attacked people. At times the movie was unnecessary creepy (like with Tony). The hardest part comes with the ending. The book and the film end so differently so you'd think i'd like one over the other but I... just... can't... decide.

Speaking of mazes watching that part reminded me of what I read in The Briar King where a character said that in maze you just have to hold your right hand to the wall and eventually you'll find the way out. So I tried it some random internet mazes and it pretty much worked every time.

My next weeks movie will be The Amazing Spiderman 2 since it finally has a non-3d showing at a good time for me but more importantly than that what I really wanted to see was Godzilla but surprise, surprise it's another 3d film. Ughh... so I guess some other week. Basically what it comes down to is that a) I'm cheap and don't like paying extra and b) I don't see in 3d anything that was worth paying extra. So that's that. Today I'll be watching the first Amazing Spiderman which I didn't see before because it didn't seem interesting.

My next fiction book, I think, will be A Scanner Darkly which I think I tried to read before but it didn't turn out good. We'll see how round two goes. Maybe that is a bad idea.

The Ghost is not particularly good. Ultimately there is little stakes, barely a whiff of mystery and the book is almost over. I fear it might be another dud like Fatherland.
