Galatians 5:1 means: Free to not be bound to trying to keep the law for righteousness…. free from the slavery of self-righteous attempts at keeping law and legalism ie religion or “good works” for our justification. There is yet so much more to our freedom in Christ, as expounded by the rest of the scriptures.

Our freedoms in Christ are great and they are many. We are Free to worship God, free to love Him, free to praise Him, free to pray to Him, free to confess Him, free to be salt and light in the dark world, free to be His witnesses, free to obey His commandments, free to serve Him, free to do what is right, free to speak what He tells us to speak, free to do what He tells us to do. We are free to stand against the powers of darkness and free to rebuke evil. We are free to defy and disobey satan, and having done all, to stand.

We are also free to suffer for Christ’s sake. And we are free to die in trusting, childlike faith with love for Him.

These are freedoms that will never be taken from us.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free…
Galatians 5
