Unusual start to the day. Woke up and I could hear water outside the house, which in England is not that unusual considering how often it rains here. But, it’s totally dry on the forecast.
So had a look, water outside all the way down our road. Not a good sign. Went outside, cuddling a little Summer, who needed cuddles, and the water was coming out of the drain cover for the water stop tap in the pavement outside our house - and it was like a full-on torrent of water! We had to call the water board out, to see what was going on.
They turned up around lunchtime, and what had happened is that we have a water meter, and the seal around it had cracked, we had suspected some kind of slow leak there as the drain had been filled with water not too long ago, but it seems that overnight it had finally given way and the thread where the meter screws in had given way completely, so nothing was stopping the water pouring out!
We now have a new water meter in the stop drain into the house, and the road outside is now dry again.
Unusual morning, a bit of excitement away from the mundane routines of life!
