I just tried to post this and part of it went into some kind of text box. Weird!
Today was Aaron’s last day as a tenth grader. My baby boy will be a junior. He had his Biology exam today. He had exams in English, Global Studies, Trigonometry, and Spanish. He took the AP Biology exam last month. It has been such a strange school year. Aaron was fortunate that his school stayed in person the whole time. But kids and teachers were constantly in and out due to Covid quarantine. There were masks, social distancing, and Plexiglas. The kids were involved in sending emails and letters to elected officials about the Black Lives Matter and immigrant justice movements.
Kayla has a job working at a state park. Timmy is working at a nature center. It is a combination of indoor and outdoor work. They are also each taking a class at the community college. They are in-person classes. This past year at college they had a combination of virtual and in-person classes. Next year is going to be mostly in person. This summer will be a nice transition to being in person for class.
They have each gone out with their friends. Kayla went on a trip to the beach and Timmy went to an amusement park. We try to talk with them about different things and be available if they want advice. But we try to remember that they are adults. For the most part they have been good. They spend a lot of time working and doing schoolwork, and then they hang out with their friends.
Aaron is younger so he has a curfew. Now that school has ended there will be fewer rules since he will not have to be up early for school.
Aaron has been doing well with his driving. We started out driving in a parking lot and now we are on to road and highway driving. He is starting drivers ed soon. The class is two weeks long.
We have taken a couple of day trips to visit different parks. We are still making plans for the summer. Like everyone we did not do too much last summer, so hoping to do more this summer.
