Aaron was in the school play this past weekend. They did “Fiddler on the Roof.” Aaron was one of the townspeople. He was in plays when he was younger but this was his first high school play. There were two performances, one each on Saturday and Sunday. Each of the performers could have one audience member at each show and the show was live-streamed. Aaron was nervous at first but he did great. When they first started rehearsing they weren’t expecting to have a live audience. That was a change, but the kids were terrific.

Aaron had a very busy couple of weeks. He had his birthday, received his first Covid shot, was in the play, and had his older sister and brother come home from college.

Kayla came back from university at the end of last week. Timmy came back the week before. Timmy had a week before he started work and then Kayla had a week before she started. It was good timing as I was working from home part of the time. It was nice to spend a week with each of them as individuals. We talked about the first year of college and their plans for the summer.

I expected that going to pick up Timmy from college would be an emotional experience. Between meeting his new friends and their parents, taking out his stuff, and figuring out how to get around in Boston, it went by very quickly. Picking up Kayla was a little slower paced. She goes to a smaller college in a relatively small town.

Kayla became fully vaccinated for Covid while she was still at college. Timmy just became fully vaccinated on Wednesday. Massachusetts was a little later in opening up vaccinations to young adults. Aaron had his first shot and will have his second next weekend.

The kids are spending Memorial Day weekend with their grandparents. Between university and Covid, they have not seen their grandparents very much lately.

Aaron is planning to apply for his learners permit in the next week or so. He will take drivers ed over summer vacation. I realized that I have to brush up on my parallel parking skills. With the twins away at school, I have not parallel parked much lately.
