So last Monday I saw The Double in the cinema. And it was really good I mean it really, really was =). I seemed like it would be from the trailers and the advertisement did not deceive. It was strange and I feel like it will need more viewings to fully understand but it was one of those films where after the credits start rolling I just sat there, without moving, taking in the film. I think more films should do that, instead of dragging out the ending just end when it ends.

So The Double had a very Lynch-esque feel, the sets just reminded me Eraserhead.

It's films like these that made me want to stop going to Hollywood popcorn flicks. They rarely if ever leave you with any lasting feelings that don't just fade the minute you leave the cinema.

And about my reading. I'm starting to really get into The Shining. They just arrived at the hotel and I'm already attached to the characters. So far the book seems good. Also after reading the word REDRUM for the third or fourth time I finally (or was it yesterday) figured out what it means.

As for Peter the Great: His Life and World it will take another week of reading to finish it. Last chapters talked about the founding of St. Petersburg. So I think the battle scenes will finally be over. I think I already mentioned that I really don't like them in books, I just can't visualize them.

And so far On First Principles by Origen seems good. And yet I still feel that my literary quest to read the church fathers might be going in over my head. Like I'm just pretending to understand.

Also I told myself that after my computer is fixed I'll recommence my learning German. We've hit another low phase. I thought that back in August or September when I first started to try to learn when the year hit I would have some grasp of it but as time goes by...

Also we are on a roll in breaking things. Yesterday I stupidly broke my headphones. It's just all really embarrassing. Bought new ones today. I never really liked my old ones anyway. Le Sad.
