Covid 1 year later in Life After 60

2020 was on for the record books. This time last year I was at home hunkered down like many others, waiting for Covid to get me or quickly pass. Neither happened! Not that I am complaining. It is the fear of the unknown that causes the grief. And I watched as friends lost the fight.
My job was considered essential so I didn’t lose my job or have a period where I didn’t have a paycheck. But I know of others who were no so lucky. Was there Government overreach? Why were Lowes and Walmart essential, while restaurants were not? Did mask and social distancing work or did we just get lucky?
Here are some things to ponder. Why put plexiglass to protect a cashier, but still have to use a card reader and punch in your pin number when you made a purchase. I am sure the keypad was disinfected between customers. (NOT!) Why put directional arrows on the floor? Most people didn’t see them or chose to ignore them. Maintain 6 feet apart in a store? Good luck with that, you’d never get your shopping done.
Some states are starting to relax the mask and social distancing, while other countries are shutting down again. At least three new variants of Covid have made their way to the US and we have three vaccines that work. So if they work, why after being vaccinated do I have to continue to wear a mask and social distance?

I know the answers to all of your questions...
Why put plexiglass to protect a cashier, but still have to use a card reader and punch in your pin number when you made a purchase. I am sure the keypad was disinfected between customers.
Here in B.C. where I live we were able to just tap and they raised the limit of the amount so that was a non issue for us.
Why put directional arrows on the floor? Most people didn’t see them or chose to ignore them. Maintain 6 feet apart in a store?
They used the arrows so people wouldn't bunch up at the same soup isle and to allow people to wait till they got their stuff and left.
Well again we had store workers making sure people went the right way and yes you can be 6 feet away and still get your shopping done. I had no issues just waiting till the person passed me.
All in all the protocols worked well and there was even a time when only a few people could go into the store and the rest had to wait in line outside.

Oh, I know the reasoning behind the policies. I am not a conspiracy theorist most of the time, but sometimes there are things that make you go hmmmm.

I have a feeling that most scientist don't think outside the box so that is why we all go HMMMM

I think the 6' rule is a good idea in general. I mean you just never know what a white man with an assault rifle is gonna have a bad day and start shooting, I'd like to have a bit of a head start. And I will be continuing to wear masks because I haven't gotten sick, from anything, since this whole thing started.

In some cases, 6 feet isn't enough! As for the assault rifle, see today's post. I am sure I am not going to win any fans!

You come on here to "not win any fans" and be evocative, so mission accomplished I guess.

After getting vaccinated, you can still carry the virus and expel it, even if you yourself will not get sick from it. So until there is a high level of herd immunity, the vaccine is just protection for yourself. The mask is protection for those you come into contact with.
