2020 was on for the record books. This time last year I was at home hunkered down like many others, waiting for Covid to get me or quickly pass. Neither happened! Not that I am complaining. It is the fear of the unknown that causes the grief. And I watched as friends lost the fight.
My job was considered essential so I didn’t lose my job or have a period where I didn’t have a paycheck. But I know of others who were no so lucky. Was there Government overreach? Why were Lowes and Walmart essential, while restaurants were not? Did mask and social distancing work or did we just get lucky?
Here are some things to ponder. Why put plexiglass to protect a cashier, but still have to use a card reader and punch in your pin number when you made a purchase. I am sure the keypad was disinfected between customers. (NOT!) Why put directional arrows on the floor? Most people didn’t see them or chose to ignore them. Maintain 6 feet apart in a store? Good luck with that, you’d never get your shopping done.
Some states are starting to relax the mask and social distancing, while other countries are shutting down again. At least three new variants of Covid have made their way to the US and we have three vaccines that work. So if they work, why after being vaccinated do I have to continue to wear a mask and social distance?
