Superior Seamen in Meeting Mr. Jesus Christ

Lake Superior is notorious for its November gales which have called home many a sailor. Most everyone has heard the song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", one of the most famous in history.

Several weeks ago icebreakers began opening shipping lanes, to little avail. It is a continuous job. Tonight Lake Superior is still frozen over in large part, icebergs are large and everywhere and gale warnings are posted. There are a number of large freighters on the lake, anchored and stuck in the ice, being ravaged by the storm.

These seamen, hero's, men who risk their lives to ensure we have supplies to heat our homes, and other necessities are in need of our prayers tonight. I hope you'll take a moment to send a request for their safety and comfort. As a Yooper, watching over the ships is something I do. I take this to heart.

I used to hate that song, but came to like it later on as I learned of appreciated its meaning.
