So yesterday, right, I bought Mortal Kombat from the PSN. That's two games in two days; I bought Assassin's Creed - Liberation the day before.
Liberation is an ugly fucking game. It's muddy as Hell and the lack of anti-aliasing on the Vita is particularly glaring. The storyline makes no fucking sense, but since I never exactly thought the storyline of previous AC titles made much sense to begin with, I'm not too fussed about that. Yeah, gamers will whinge on about storylines, and how that their chosen medium must be seen as intellectually high art... but I don't think that needs to be true of every fucking game, and I don't see AC - Liberation in that way. I just enjoy free-running around the rooftops and stabbing people in the neck. So I'm enjoying it, even if it is kind of ugly aesthetically.
Mortal Kombat is something else. As someone who played the original games back in the early 90's, it's great to play this newer title. It feels similar to the older ones in the same way that the newer Street Fighter games feel similar to Super Street Fighter 2. A lot of the character's moves are the same as they used to be back on the Sega Mega Drive (fuck the green-blooded SNES versions - this game was meant to be played bloody) so I'm not having any real difficulty getting into it at all - all those original moves floated back up to the top of my brain as soon as I heard the words "Round One... Fight!". The fatalities will take some remembering, but luckily there's an extensive set of training modes, one of which is designed solely for fatalities. Bitchin'.
And it's gory as fuck.

I know the screenshot doesn't do the game justice - I'll update this entry later with some of my own screenshots, so watch this space. Suffice to say, though, there have been some genuine "Euurgh, what the fuck" moments. Quan Chi has a Fatality that seems him ripping off the leg of his opponent and beating him to death with it.
The game runs at a solid 60FPS at all times, which is nothing short of a miracle, and to achieve this the developers obviously had to scale down the graphics slightly, but (for all the bitching over the last few years that has surrounded this decision) it's not fucking noticeable. One thing that consistently bothers me about the gaming community is it's inability to be satisfied with anything - all they do is fucking complain. Well, fuck those assholes. I'm not finding anything to complain about. Well, okay, I can't control the game properly with the thumbstick, but if you use a thumbstick over the D-pad to play a beat-'em-up in the first place, you're doing it wrong.
Finally, Terraria. So. The 1.2 update caused many bugs to appear, and one of the most entertaining was the one where if you put your money into a piggy bank, saved, quit, and re-loaded, your money will have turned into random stacks of other items.
Well, turns out that they're not so random. Depending on how much money was in the stack you deposited into your piggy bank, the stack would transform into a stack of whatever item ID is represented by the number of coins in the stack. For example, if you deposited 74 copper coins into the piggy bank in a single stack, save, quit, re-loaded, you would find that, because 74 is the item ID for platinum coins, your copper coins would have turned into platinum coins.
But then people started discovering that it doesn't matter if you deposit coins or mud or anything else - as long as whatever you deposit is a stack of 74, they will transform into platinum coins.
So I went here and had a look at the item IDs for every item in the game - and using this method I managed to create items that aren't even fully implemented yet. Like the Coin Gun. ..and Red's Wings - an item that only developers can access and simply has the description "You shouldn't have this".
Obviously the devs are going to patch this as soon as possible, which is why I'm busy filling my world with unobtainable items and otherwise hard-to-get gear. Cheating? Fuck you, it's Terraria - I spent months working hard to build stuff and now I'm having me some fun :D
Well, uh, that's about it. Have a lovely Sunday, bitches.

Oh, and watch this. You need to be told.
