I have not been here as much as I thought I’d be. I must have been busy but not sure what I’ve been doing.
We cleaned out the fridge the other day. Isn’t life exciting?
I’ve played at painting a bit.
On Friday a friend came to play scrabble. It should have been two friends but one has had a minor stroke and din’t feel uup to it. Due to a mix up with text messages there should be four of us tomorrow. I hope Helen is up to it.
The plan is to finish off with fish and chips.
I contacted two companies to quote me for a sprinkler system. One has been and had a look at the place. Of course, they would prefer to rip out the old stuff and put in all new which I am loath to do. I am waiting for the other to contact me with a time. They are very busy at present.
The weather here this year has been incredibly cool. It’s wonderful. I thought we’d be getting 50C after last years bushfires. But there is still a lot of summer left.
A has gone out on his sail boat today. I hope he makes it back before dark. I don’t sleep well if he doesn’t get back but am under instruction to do nothing anyway. He’s only been out overnight once. Last year, the lake was way down, he broke the rudder and ran out of wind to get home. Not taking the motor with him means he is psretty much at the mercy of the wind and if it doesn’t blow he’s stuck. On that occassion he found himself stuck in the fork of a tree! So he decided he’d stay there until the wind rose in the morning. (The lake is large but shallow and trees were not removed when the dam was put in).
I’ve spent the day trying to reorganise my art room. I seem to spend so long wandering aaround the place looking for things I need. I also need to get rid of a heap of stuff to make finding things easier.
Son number 2 called in to eat his lunch as he was doing a job not far from my place. Always good to see him.
I am currently reading a book about Julia Gillard, who was our Prime Minister some years ago. The best we’ve had in many years in my opinion. She got more legislation passed than anyone else had. Good stuff too, like the National Disability Insurance Scheme to support those who need it. But she had to cope with the most amazing amount of sexism, the like of which would never be tolerated against a man. Nor would it be tolerated if it was racism. No-one was calling it out. She was also undermined by the guy she had taken over from, supposed to be on her own team. She needed amazing strength and determination. She found it and still acheived an amazing amount.
A Week and more has gone by in In the beginning....
