People vary in their beliefs about hot-button issues, so here is where I stand. I welcome discussions if your point of view differs, as long as you do so respectfully.
As a member of the NRA along with several family members, I am pro-guns. Unfortunately, due to numerous issues, I don't actually own one. My mom has her CCL tho', so don't try anything! O_o
I am a mother, and still I am pro-choice. It's never an easy decision to make, but I respect that it is up to the individual to make it.
Although I don't promote violence, I think that sometimes there are things worth fighting for, making war a necessary evil.
In addition, I believe that the death penalty should be an option if the situation warrants it. You shouldn't be able to go around killing women and then live out your life in jail where all of your basic needs are met for free.
I think marijuana should be legalized across the country. I've been drunk and I've been high, and I've been with a high driver, but I won't get in the car with one who's been drinking.
However, I think there should be mandatory drug testing for welfare (along with some reform). I've been on assistance for years, and I get really tired of the ghetto people in their nice cars on their smartphones arguing about their foodstamps getting lowered.
I think gay marriage should be legal in every state. Love is love. Why does it matter if two consenting adults are of the same sex if they are happy? And they should be allowed to make it legal and reap the benefits of that union just like everyone else.
I think there should be stronger punishment for animal abusers. If you can do those things to a defenseless animal who feels pain just as much as any human, who knows what else you are capable of.
I don't think we are properly preparing our children for their futures anymore, although at the rate we are going, they won't have the same opportunities either way. Along those lines, kids should be saying The Pledge of Allegiance every morning at school, as a reminder of who we are. However, I think that should be the only place that God/religion comes into play in the school environment.
