Things have been quiet but in a good way quiet.
I dug up my future garden today. Found a black snake - and a rusted knife. I swear every time I dig in the back yard it's like a real life game of clue (or an archaeological dig - you take your pick). I was happy to see that it's mostly nice black dirt in there. I'll get one or two bags more. The stuff with the miracle grow in it already. It will help the plants grow. I'll also need a rake but even that is easy enough to pick up. I'll end up doing more digging after supper once the temps go down some and as long as its not raining. Day by day this backyard is coming together. It will look nice for June if it kills me in the process!
My sweetie's Thing 1 is having a rough go. She will be moving out of her home shortly. Away from her husband - who thought it would be a good idea to try to choke slam her while she was holding their youngest (who is just over 1). My sweetie says she caught him cheating on her so in his ... anger (???) .. over being caught he did this. Um - excuse me - if you have a faulty zipper you have no right to be angry when your caught. Be remorseful.. be sad.. feel like your in the principle's office.. but you have no right to be angry for being caught that your zipper has a serious fault. My sweetie says that he wasn't even upset that he was cheating on his daughter (of course you wouldn't be) he was angry that he laid more than a finger on her. I'm upset that he has a faulty zipper. For Pete sakes man you have TWO kids! To me.. you get married and that is it. I cannot fathom cheating on my spouse. To me, if things are bad then you talk to your spouse. Communicate! What ever happened to that? If that isn't an option or you have already tried then you get the hell out. As fast and as safely as you can. Anyways... I guess this means I'll be seeing the babes more often - which is great. I love those babes of hers. I've been showing them off to co-workers as MY grand-babes for years anyway. We just happened to make it legal recently :)
We're having my sweetie's Thing 2 and her partner over for supper tomorrow night. Yumm steaks! I'm excited to see them both. With their work schedules we hardly see them anymore.
Traditions - my sweetie was telling me that when he was younger his family had a tradition of going to his Nan's house on Sunday's at 2pm for brunch. Everyone would show up. All her kids and thus all of his aunts, uncles and cousins. The only way you got out of going was if you were working or dead. :) He said he wants to start doing the same thing here. I'd like that but things are different now. Back then nearly everyone had Sunday's off. Now, our society has migrated far away from family values and moved towards service. It's rare to have people off on Sunday's anymore. No one has set schedules. Hell you're lucky to even have a job half the time now days.
I'm off to start hunting for supper things. I'm thinking its a chili dog and fry night :)
Happy Tuesday everyone!!
