this last weekend was eventful.

friday started as any other day. it was friday. i was tired. but alas, it was friday. i was excited for the end of the week and relaxing for the weekend. i didn't sleep well last week so i was exhausted by the time friday rolled around. i was talking to my friend/colleague eric randomly about a case and then he asked what i was up to that night. initially, i said nothing to see what he had in mind. he wanted to go out so i said sure. thinking that it would a little, small happy hour of the sort. we had been talking about stopping at various metro stops on the red line and exploring the areas. left it at that and went back to work.

went to the farmers market at lunch with a bunch of folks. always a fun outing; we took a few of the bosses so we could stay longer. can't get dinged for tardiness if the boss is with you, per se. so we had a good time in the sun. we told one of the bosses about our plan and one thing led to another. he suggested this place over by him on the gold line in east la. and wouldn't you know, suddenly there were plans.

ended up meeting around 7 in east la. took the metro so it wasn't bad. started over at this place called rudy's for a drink. then headed over to this place called the venice room for dinner. an interesting concept. you get a steak (with sides) and you grill it. yes, there's a grill and you cook your own meat. it is served raw. it was funny and fun actually. interacting and going over grilling techniques. ended up doing something like 5-5-3-3. our other boss joined us and we were talking about what he wanted to eat when the waitress came by. he said he didn't want steak. she asked what he wanted and when he asked what else they had, she responded, "nothing." so guess what, he ended up with the steak. he seemed to enjoy it. we went back to rudy's and you could tell he wasn't really digging the latin music, so he left. the three of us left staying and shutting the place down.

there was a brief discussion about getting home and figuring it out. but we ended up deciding to stay at our bosses house. normally this would be strange. well, it still was strange really. but it was better than trying to take the metro and then drive home. so we walked to his house around 2:30. funny thing. eric's and my phone batteries were dead, so eric used oscar's (our boss) to call his wife to tell her he'd be home the next day. good thing she's not suspicious about him calling from some random number at 3 on a saturday morning.

we woke up about 8:30 and boy, can oscar talk. we were having coffee and he just kept talking. somewhere, either in the morning or the night before, he mentioned that mike, our other boss, had plans to get me promoted. at the venice room, mike asked if i had my administrative credential. (i do since it's a requirement for an admin. position.) so that was interesting. but really, we (he) just talked until about 10 when mike showed up to help load stuff into the car for that night....
