It's Sunday evening, and both kids are asleep and Josh is watching football.
I just finished laying out this week's homeschool activities. I have work sheets for every single day (some days have 2), a puzzle, a craft (bumble bee) and some actual workbook pages. This week we will work on the letter "B" and "ball." I want to do some baking with bananas, but we don't have any right now. If i can get some early in the week we can still do our baking project. And of course, we have therapy Tuesday/Thursday, and then if i have the truck, i want to take them to the library for story time on Friday. That's a pretty full week for such young kiddos! But Joshua loves "school" so much, he actually pulls me by the hand into the dining room and makes me sit at the table with him and pull out something for him to "work on." And today he said "dool"... which obviously means "school" ;)
I've spent the last few days reorganizing ALL of the boys' clothes. It took me THREE days. I did their entire closet and the dresser. I separated everything by size, so Liam has a section of his own from Joshua's. Liam has all of the 18 months/24 months/2T's. Joshua has all 3T and 4T. Now i shouldn't have to reorganize clothes for at least a year or two. And i cleaned up their room, and took away the changing pad on top of the dresser/changing table to use it as a dresser instead, since i barely EVER used it to change Liam on, anyways. :p
And, the biggest news i have, is, that Josh started a new job last week. The guy he'd been working for on the side for about a year as his mechanic asked if he'd like to be hired on full time (did i mention this already?). It's a company that does fire/water/other damage. They go in and demo/clean up the damage, deal with insurance companies, etc. He's a crew chief, so he'll have his own crew, a company truck and a company phone. Plus clothes, etc. He'll get 40 hours a week plus good opportunity for overtime, will be on call 24 hours a day for usually 3 weeks and then have 3 weeks of not being on call, plus paid vacations, holidays, and insurance after 90 days.
The only downside is that the pay is indeed HALF of what he was making before. But, like we decided, it's better than not having ANY hours at all, being insurance-less, relying on unemployment that will EVENTUALLY run out (like many of you asked about). So, we decided that it's the best move for us, and though i still am hoping to get that job (no word on it yet), we are a lot closer to surviving than we were before. Hopefully the bank will give us a few more weeks to get some money coming in so we can start back-paying on the mortgage without too much more penalty (foreclosure, etc). It's SCARY thinking your house is THISCLOSE to getting foreclosed on. But we have our mortgage through a SMALL, friendly bank and they've been real good to us.
So, anyways. Also, this job is a LOT easier on his body, so he's not as tired and worn down as he was before. And he LIKES it and the people. Instead of going in at 4am, he has to be there for 8. He gets paid for travel time. It's only 20 minutes away from our house. Etc, etc, etc. It's a good move.
Now that he's not so depressed, he comes home from work happy. Plays with the kids, helps me CLEAN the house at night before bed, we've gone for walks around the block, etc. It's amazing. Hopefully this will be a huge help with our marriage, too. Because money issues are the root of all evil, and cause tremendous marriage issues.
I think that's all i've got for tonight. I want to go cross stitch, but it's almost 9pm and i'm getting tired, so i don't think i'll bother getting all set up just to start falling asleep!
