Confused... in What is my purpose?

How can one do something that they have yelled at another for doing? Example.. I have been told that all I do is play on my phone.. so I typically put my phone down in another room in the evening, well how is it ok that he can text people on his personal phone all night long? If I say something about it I get it’s none of your business… really? All I do is talk to my mom and my sisters because we are a social bunch and don’t live close to each other..
