Movin' On Up in The One Where I Dream

Life keeps on moving by even if we don't feel like we can keep up, am I right? :)

Random things, because that is the easiest way to do it.

  • Jacob and I re-signed our lease at our current apartment. It will be nice to be in one place more than a year. While I would love a bigger place and while we may consider moving a bit farther out to get a better apartment for our current price, for now it is my home. I wish I could do anything and everything I wanted, but a few painted walls and fun decorations will have to do for now.

  • I've started tracking my calories/looking at my weight again. I want to get back to closer where I was when Jacob and I started dating. (Which really was the lowest I probably was in college.) I don't think I'm being unrealistic -- ideally I'd like to lose 10-15 pounds I think. In any case, it has been a good motivator to get back on track and get ready for some spring clothing.

  • I received a promotion and a raise from work around 2 weeks ago. It happened on a Wednesday and was completely unexpected. (I didn't even think getting a promotion was possible.) I am now the Communications Manager for my association and the raise was incredibly decent (more than I received during my annual review and I even thought that was good). Jacob and I went out to celebrate at a really amazing tapas place called Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba.

  • Sophie is a rugrat. I adore her, and I think she's attached to me. She is in the puppy stage where she knows things but likes to pretend to listen and then do something she shouldn't. It is challenging. :) We go for a puppy play date tomorrow -- a bunch of other Frenchies, Bostons, and small dogs at a bar where they all (about 20 dogs I think?) romp around. We will see how she does, since the last time we went was around the holidays.

  • Our anniversary is in about 6 weeks. I would love to do a mini weekend getaway but can't get far with ideas. Does anyone have good ideas for little trips from Chicago? Fodor's had an article listing a few places that would be close for driving (Milwaukee, Indianapolis, little Illinois towns). I think it would be nice to be just the two of us and am trying to brainstorm on that.

  • I almost met Sarah Jessica Parker. I read in the paper I like that she was promoting her new shoe line (gorgeous) and I battled back and forth on trying to. I went alone but in the allotted time didn't make it up far enough in the line. I tweeted her, and she tweeted me back. About a week later I got a letter in the mail with her SJP tag signed, which was really sweet. Now only if I had met her!

  • We went for a Michigan weekend visit two or so weeks ago. We saw 20+ of our nearest and dearest in 2 days. It was exhausting but I am thankful we were able to try to squeeze everyone in.

  • I have attempted to wiggle some photos in, but I don't think I'm going to mess with that. They just appear as code (at least on the backend) and I don't want to try putting a bunch of photos in here where it just won't work.

I guess those are all the words that are meant to be left. <3
