I will always work this way: step by step, with nothing left out, exploring every step and corner of the question I'm looking at until I'm sure that there is nothing left to see.
And that means that I will always be slower than any of you, and that I won't be a genius like some of you, and my work will always be dull and boring, but no matter what work it is, no matter how far ahead you start, sooner or later I will catch up with whatever you are doing.
And if you can't do it because your intuitive sense with all the skipped steps can't do this because it is like nothing you have ever seen before and have nothing to compare to in your intuition? Then sooner or later I will not just catch up with you.
I will overtake you.
The tortoise has nothing on me.
~~Me, explaining (exasperatedly) to students why my work is always painstaking and detailed, when nine times out of ten the obvious solution is right there in front of me.
Because, you see, nine times out of ten I will catch up. And on the tenth I will smack you down.
