The title of this post reflects my views of most people, including myself. Yes, we are consumers of television but are we also being programmed to believe certain things?
Today’s journal writing prompt is:
5. What’s A Secret Habit/Thing You Enjoy
For me my most enjoyable time for me throughout the day happens each day at 1:00 PM when my mother of 81 has a show she has loved to watch each day for decades called”General Hospital” and I get to watch her watching her show. I will about each character and their history in the show which frustrates her but, I think, helps exercise her memory as well. See, my mother has also suffered a stoke in 2009 so I really enjoy giving her a chance to feel that is a time that is reserved for her alone.
I’ve also started following almost the entire cast on twitter in order to hopefully learn some tidbits on the show or interesting facts about the actors that she might enjoy knowing.
Like any good man, I love my mother and get frustrate in knowing I no longer have the ability to care and provide for she deserves. I hope she knows my heart and my desire to be a better son for her.
