Day 200-ish, or is it 1000-ish? in Sad ordinary story

First entry, 6 months in, or is 3 years?
English is not my first language so all apologies.

My daughter, who is 8 and l(o/i)vely, just mentionned a chair we saw as we took a daytrip last fall to a mall, some 80 miles away from home, as we were looking for a new desk for her brother.
The three of us away for the day. Their mom at home because too busy with work.
And then I remembered. We were hesitating about the new desk, we needed a fourth opinion.
A quick facetime would do it. But as usual, their mom took ages to pick up the phone, and when she finally did....

And this is where I get confused. Was it that time or the time we were away for a week, last summer, the three of us again because yet again she was too busy, was it this time or that time that she finally answered the FaceTime call with a puffed red face, a slight look of panic in her eyes, as she was shuffling away from a room, getting at least 10 meters away from wherever her phone rang, shooting quick glances left and right as she talked to us?
Was it this time or that time when we disturbed her from the warm embrace of the kids’ music teacher?

This should have no significance, that should have no kind of interest. But this troubles me as I try and rewind on all meaningless events which would eventually prove meaningful.

This is a very “banal” story of adultery. This is the most important thing in my life. This is not me trying to make a point, this is not me trying to win an argument, this is me trying to understand when she started to collapse on herself, how she built defensive stratagems around her to feel better about it all, to what extent she managed to reshape reality around her in a way to cope with her so very human failings.

The timeline seems so simple at first. Boy meets girl. Boy decides, 3 years into their relation, that she is indeed the one he wants to age along with. 8 years into their relation comes a baby boy. Here comes the first significant incident. They move to the countryside in order to give this new boy a chance to see something better. But by doing so, the happy parents isolate themselves from the social interactions they like so much.
