author: Maeve Binchy

I'm guess there are some people who are not fans of this author... I love her work. You KNOW when you pick up a book of hers, it'll be warm and loving, with interesting characters and complicated family lives.

Many books were written about the same people - from different perspectives, and different parts of their lives. Some of them, and the places, appear in this book... as background.

The "week" is an opening week in a large home in the west of Ireland - overlooking the Atlantic. The people gathered are from all walks of life - the people who run the place have had their ups and downs already. There are various children born out of wedlock, early marriages, a stint in reform school, etc. No one has had "smooth sailing" in life.

You know what you'll get with a Maeve Binchy book... and it's something I look forward to each time.

There's a warmth and caring in her books. Like a warm bath.
