“So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is…fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Just because someone says it, doesn’t make it true or so. While FDR certainly hit the nail on the head, sometimes fear is a good thing. It keeps us safe. You know that little voice that says, don’t walk into that dark alley. And then there is just common sense. A commodity of which we are in short supply of these days. Don’t walk under a ladder–it’s not bad luck, it’s being stupid.
The stock crash 1929 is on example. Had people not panic and made a run on the banks, everything would have leveled off. Just like the pandemic, had folks not panicked there would be no shortage. But it’s the bless my four and no more mentality that takes us to the brink of self-destruction.
