thats what i was called by the physical therapist today. inspirational. she said that she loves how engaging i am with the special needs students, that i am giving them a well rounded music education and that she can tell i try to incorporate other disciplines as well. i absolutely love this woman! she has had nothing but kind words to say to me about how i teach. it gave me a boost for the rest of the day :)

my kiddos have gotten much further in their music than i have been able to get out of them. and HARMONIES are coming together! ahhh...when kids start to understand different parts, its an amazing feeling! im hoping all is not lost next week with this big ELA test for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.

in case you didnt know...my entire school (pre-k through 5th grade) puts on 2 concerts every year: winter and spring. all of the kids sing. ALL. OF. THEM. im not exactly thrilled by this practice, but its not my choice! music isnt all about performing. anyway...the concert is coming up on may 15th. sounds like a long time away, but it isnt. i only see each class once a week. there are 17 classes i see every week. with testing and spring break coming, some classes only have 4 lessons left with me. yeah. seriously. i'm going to have to take my chart to my principal and see if we can move around some classes so i can get more learning time with certain classes. there are a few that i feel confident about, but most of the upper grades im in panic mode. 3 songs to perform and only 1 class has finished 1 song...not good! but itll all be okay in the end. might have to push back the concert date a little bit...trouble is april/may is testing time for elementary schools (why dont they just do it in june??!!) so scheduling a concert is awful. i might even talk to my boss and see if we can do it in june because that would make the most sense!

it was nice to be called inspirational :) definitely a feel good day! except for all the screaming at my second graders...but that never changes.

later!
