Work Update... in 2014

I go to see my new therapist tomorrow. I'm relatively nervous... I only saw my last one twice and never really accomplished anything or knew how to open up. But... I do hope it goes well and I immediately like her and decide to maybe see her once a week.

In other news, I called Joe's Jeans (where I applied on March 14) and at the very least, the manager there was MUCH easier to talk to than the one at PaperSource. She seemed bubbly (oh boy) but admitted that she only just started being the manager at this particular Joe's location and that she thinks she received my resume but was doing training at another location at the same time, and when she asked if I had management experience, she actually knew what Jacadi, 7 For All Mankind, and United Colors of Benetton were (unlike the manager at P-S, who didn't know ANY of them, which made it harder for me to relate my experiences).

Plus the fact I've worked and been in management at a denim store impressed her, as she felt there was a lack of product knowledge in their store (I was the brand specialist at 7FAM). I wouldn't ever tell her this, but when Joe's opened in 2012, all of us at 7FAM applied there LOL and we knew a girl who was hired as an associate there (I wonder if she's still there ?) who knew Wendy, the manager who came in at 7 a couple months after myself. This girl would visit us on her break and tell us about how Joe's was basically just (at the time) hiring ANYBODY, including a guy whose only working experience was Chipotle. Now me, having the trouble I'm having with finding a non-retail job, that's not exactly a bad thing. Obviously I feel I'm more than qualified for non-retail but other people seem to think otherwise. At the very least, it suggested to me that Joe's is still a less-established company than 7 For All Mankind and in a way that's a good thing and a bad thing.

As it is, I think it would be an easier transition, it puts me back in Tysons Galleria (despite how much I HATE going to Tysons Corner, I've held jobs there since May 2008). Having to work a store in that mall by yourself (in case someone doesn't show up) is COMPLETELY different than having to do it at Tysons Corner. And Joe's is actually smaller than 7, so it's easier to keep an eye on the entire store, whereas Benetton was maybe 4x the size of 7 For All Mankind.

Also I like Joe's. Plain and simple. We have an outlet in Leesburg and even when I was at 7, I accumulated 3 pairs of Joe's from that outlet that I prefer to some of my 7FAM collection.

So all in all... I don't want to assume I "have it in the bag." But I have a better overall feeling about this and I do hope I impress Lindsey and that she likes that I have pretty much open availability AND denim experience and decides to hire me. Most people who know me say it'd be very hard for me to give a bad first impression (unless they're just telling me that...). Honestly the only thing I'm usually ever nervous about is if they will judge me based on my weight. But if I walk in wearing a pair of Joe's, obviously I fit them and am fit enough to work and blah blah blah.

My interview is 10 AM on Friday. Wish me luck everyone... I would really like to have this job. Never thought I'd say that about retail, but... yeah.
