Today has been the best and most productive day of my vacation, and of course today is my last day off before heading back to work for a 12 hour shift tomorrow. Why does time off always fly by, but the work days seem to drag on forever?

I got up early this morning, determined to get out and grocery shop and run errands and get back home as quick as possible. I was partly successful. Walmart was…interesting. I hadn’t been out all week, except once to take my 8yo to the doctor for suspected pink eye (it wasn’t, thank goodness), and even though it was MUCH less crowded that normal, it was still very overstimulating to be around the handful of people who were there.

I survived it, though, and stopped by Home Depot on the way back home. I picked up a few bags of garden soil and a manual reel mower. I really wanted to build some raised beds, but time is a more finite resource for me than anything else right now, so I’ll be dropping those soil bags straight on the ground, cutting them open, and planting greens and radishes and all sorts of goodies straight in them.

Especially with everything going on in the world right now, I really wish we had more gardening space than we have now…

I’ll come back to this later. Schoolwork to do right now.
