Mother's Day in The View from the Terrace

We had a lovely day yesterday. We went to a local park. There were quite a lot of people but it is a big park and it was possible to keep the 2 meters distance. The sun was shining and the lake was beautiful. There were swans, geese and ducks on the water, and the inevitable seagulls.

On the lake there is a lighthouse, a memorial to Captain Scott who set sail from Cardiff on his final expedition. There is a model of a ship on the top and it is Scott’s ship the Terra Nova. If you enlarge the photo you can see it better.

We walked for an hour in the spring sunshine and Billie enjoyed her first swim of the year in the stream. There were spring flowers and blossom everywhere.

We really enjoyed our afternoon together.

I had decided to avoid shopping as far as possible and do it all online but when we got back Louise tried to do an order with Tesco’s. She has very little bread left and there were a number of other things that we couldn’t get on our shopping trip on Friday. We were shocked to find that they had no bookable delivery slots left. We tried Sainsbury’s and they are not even registering new online customers. I checked Asda and they are full up too. So, as Louise can’t go out without me, I can’t follow government advice and stay in. If we develop symptoms and have to self isolate we can’t get any food as we have no friends or relatives nearby. Perhaps we could find a volunteer to shop for us on our local neighbourhood group. As it is we will have to go to Tesco’s on Tuesday morning and hope they have what we need.

When we were in the park we saw this flower and I couldn’t work out what it was. It looks like a crocus but I’ve never seen one that colour. Does anyone know?

That sounded a lovely day! We went to a park as well and were the only ones there so easy to do the social distancing bit :)
I would think there would be willing volunteers in your neighbourhood group to do shopping for you - I was quite shocked at the empty shelves in Tesco yesterday - folk had obviously been preparing for the lockdown!
