It hurts because I play with myself too much in A new beginning

Yesterday this old woman wearing an odd looking furry vest came up to us and was like "You want to turn that pornography off!! Is that what you girls do here all day??" She was referring to the soap opera that was on the TV in the Xray waiting room. I later found out this same woman, when she was in the room seeing one of the hand specialists said "I think my wrist hurts because I play with myself too much". The surgeon's face turned beat red apparently. He walked out of the room with a priceless look on his face and goes "That was........remarkable." He also said he didn't know how the medical assistant kept it together the whole time in there. haha.

Had a patient today if the hospital they were going to have surgery at had valet parking there. "Um...no they don't." "Okay so can I just park in a handicap spot then?" "Well, I'd love to say you can but then again I don't want to pay for your ticket" "Well how much would a ticket be then?" Yeah...got to love people!

Today I was reviewing something with "Dr. Hand" and I asked her how her marathon training was going and she said it was going better and then was like "I have been meaning to look at your wrist again. I definitely think there is more going on there". She ushered me to a room and started examining it and got really silent for a while after asking me where it hurt and commenting how it was still swollen. "Yes, it's time to get it taken care of." She said where it has been two weeks and the cortisone shot hasn't done anything it is very unlikely that it will resolve on its own. I asked her if she would do it under local and she said she that she would only do it under local if there was absolutely no other way around it. She explained that with a local the chances of developing a neuroma or hitting something and doing irreversible damage is way higher and she has seen it happen during her residency and would not want to chance it. I said "Okay, that's a good explanation". I just think of how awkward it's going to be having her operate and not to mention my coworkers being in the OR. And not being able to wear makeup is going to suck considering my face is has been like permanently broken out since I was 10. But it's either deal with being in pain all the time or suck it up and get it over with so I signed all the paperwork and did my own preop pretty much. ha I need to wait until my new insurance kicks in on April first though. She told me I should book it before she runs the marathon and dies. Her knee and ankle have been bothering her with all the training she's been doing and said this will be her last marathon. I can't even imagine running a half marathon at this point, let alone a full marathon!

I had my second and last PT appointment as well as work comp appointment for my knee today. I don't have to go back and have no restrictions now. woo hoo. So glad to be done with all that crap. I still get sharp pains on the side and top of my knee from time to time but nothing like what it was before so I'm happy. Still haven't started running yet. Need to get on that. So glad tomorrow is Friday!

I've only ever been under once and the first thing I asked when I woke up was "Did I do anything embarrassing?" I completely understand why you would be worried about it being done where you work, but the bright side is that the doctor knows you and cares, so she should be at her very best!

I've only ever had sedation type anesthesia so I've never been under before and leave it up to me for my first time to be with my coworkers. haha. But what you said is very true though. Thanks for that.
