Well, Tabitha finally has a job at at vet's office, which is what she wanted all along. It's full time, at $10.00 an hour, and she's fine with that. That is the good news. The bad news is that she's a receptionist. She did NOT finish her vet tech degree, and has dropped out of college. Sigh.....so....she has over $50,000 in student loans coming due,and a job she could have gotten if she had just walked off the street.
But...she's employed...full time with benefits, and with the animals, which is all she ever wanted anyway, so I'll just choose to be happy for her.
Nick gave up his job at John's Auto Parts to work for Safelight glass, but then decided he didn't want to sign a three year committment, so he was unemployed for over a month. Fortunately, he was trying to find a new transmission for his Subaru, and found another family owned auto parts store/yard, and when he asked if they were hiring, they took him on! So he's back to work too. Good thing, he turns 21 in November and his dad says he needs to be out on his own. While I love having him with me every other week, 24/7 might be a little much to share my (and Nils' space) with a 21 year old man. While I don't really WANT My nest empty, I don't really WANT to continue to raise a kid once he's been raised! (grin) I don't want to push him to get his own place if he's going to deploy with his Guard Unit, but I don't want him to think he can just hang out with me forever either.
Sabrina. Still no job. Still no intention of getting a job. I did talk to her about opening a 'store front' on EBAY, and using her collecting and anime knowledge to buy and resell stuff there. I think she could make a living, if she just put some time into it. She seemed excited about the prospect, so I'll help her get set up for that next month, and we can spend quality time hitting garage and estate sales in a few months to spiff up her inventory. Let's hope her excitement is enough to carry her through to an actual income.
Nils is laid off, but that's par for the course for an Electrician's Apprentice. His UI check is almost as big as his normal paycheck, and it should be for only about 6 weeks. I've given him a week to sleep in and lounge about, but I think this weekend I will present him with a honey do jar! (grin)
I had an interview on Monday, with the Department of Natural Resources. It's still a state job, so I would get to keep my benefits, seniorty and vacation, but it would be something totally new! Keep your fingers crossed. I got an email this afternoon asking for my references, so I'm taking that as a hopeful sign.
Speaking of hopeful signs, tomorrow is the first day of spring. We had 3 inches of snow overnight. Please GOD! Let that be the end of it!
Have a good evening all!
