We drove up to Scotland on Saturday morning, leaving at 6 am and arriving at the Falkirk wheel at 10. 30 am. I found this visit far more interesting than I had expected.

We then headed over to Edinburgh and arrived at ocean terminal mid afternoon, which gave us enough time to go visit the royal yatch Brittiana. We were surprised at how small and unfussy it was. We had tea and cake in the restaurant there and really enjoyed our visit. We then walked around the shopping centre for a few minutes before heading over to our hotel.

We parked up the car and left it there till it was time to go home on Tuesday.

We checked into premier lodge and booked our table for our evening meal. I had paid upfront for the hotel for the 3 night bb&e meals which also came with a drink, so no big bills.

Saturday was our 39 th Wedding anniversary and what a busy and wonderful day we both had.

Sunday, we took a bus tour of Edinburgh taking in a gallery and also the botanical gardens. Before returning to the hotel for our evening meal. So a second very busy and wonderful day was had.

Monday morning we were out early as we had bought tickets for Edinburgh Zoo as we wanted to see the pandas. This was the main reason for coming to Edinburgh on this trip. We were not disappointed at all the pandas were awake and there were very few people there so we could spend as long as we liked with them. We arrived at the zoo at 9.15 am and left at lunch time. So we did a lot of walking on hilly ground but loved every minute of it.

As we got to the bus stop a bus to Portolello was due so we hopped on. It was a long journey on the buss but worth it. As the town was a quaint seaside town, with beautifully sandy beaches, how amazing.

We had lunch in a cafe (reds), which was wonderful. I had ginger and lime chicken sandwich and hubby had haggis and nepps, both were lovely. This cafe also had a play area for children yet quiet seating at the front, a very nice setting.

Once down on the prom, we got the urge to walk, so just set off for Leith. We walked until, we came to leith walks then caught a buss back into Edinburgh, then back out again back to our hotel. To tell the truth we caught wrong buss and had not intended to head back into Edinburgh but we could not stop laughing about it.

Monday, was hubbies 59 th birthday and we both had an amazing third day in Edinburgh.

So how are we going to top this trip next year, when it is our 40th wedding anniversary and hubbies 60 th.

Hubby, wants a ballon flight, so something around this maybe.

This was the first time we had travelled to Edinburgh independently and have to say we were very impressed.

The people every where we went were very polite and helpfull. It was so easy and cheap to find our way around.

Tuesday, it started raining as we got ready to travel home, so we did not stop at Morecambe as was planned, so we had a late lunch at a very busy carvery pub close to home.

Called in supermarket for a few essentials then home to unpack. Next dog was collected from kennels then bathed and everything unpacked and organised for hubbies return to work today.

I don't feel at all tired after that trip, so all is well and good with the world today.

The sun is shinning here today
