Types of Direct Dyes are:

1. Class A: This group contains the dyes that are capable of self-leveling, i.e. dyes that have good migration or leveling properties.
2. Class B: Dyes that are not capable of leveling. But this can be controlled by the addition of salt to give level results.
3. Class C: Dyes that are not self–leveling and which are sensitive to salt. The exhaustion of these dyes cannot be controlled through the addition of salt alone. They require additional control by temperature which makes them temperature controllable.
