Catherine is considered an AML subject matter leader and currently serves as a Director in the AML regulatory practice that is part of the Financial Crimes Unit at Price water house Coopers LLP (PwC). She has extensive experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financial Crime Compliance, largely gained through experience at large financial institutions. Catherine spent the first five years of her career within various Financial Intelligence Units (FIU) focused on investigations and FIU operations.
In addition, Catherine spent several years as a senior compliance officer focused on developing and embedding AML programs, with an emphasis on AML policies, programs and procedures; establishing governance frameworks and optimizing reporting requirements; overseeing the governance and execution of global standards programs. Catherine has also managed and/or supported numerous highly scrutinized regulatory remediation projects, including those associated with a Monitor ship and multi-faceted continuous program enhancement initiatives to successful completion. Recent projects at PwC include:
• Leading the investigations and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) work stream overseeing 200+ investigators in two country locations as part of a Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) look-back project.
• Aided a leading broker-dealer with creating the firm’s Global KYC program for the transformation of disparate policies and procedures into consistent global standards.
• Provided assistance to a large global financial institution in its preparation and response to a regulatory request. Specifically, assisted with: (a) assessing the scope of internal issues expected to be part of a large scale remediation effort; (b) created a tractability matrix encompassing two years-worth of remediation action plans, deliverable, internal issues, and key communications against regulatory order requirements; and (c) prepared key personnel fort he presentation of the tractability matrix to regulators.
