Who can forget those old bugs bunny Looney toons wherein bugsy tunnels through the Earth only to find that he’s tunneled all the way through to the other side and finds himself clear in China? Right now, my family and I live in the area of Phoenix, Arizona. If I tunneled all the way through to the other side of the Earth, from right where I am, I would, in fact, break ground at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. Sometimes, like right now, I feel like I already have. I feel trapped in darkness, crushed by pressure, cold, and small. I am at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. And the surface is far from my reach.
