Is it me you’re looking for? No, seriously… is this thing on?

Busyness

I’m freakin’ busy, y’all. Teaching full time. College classes on Monday and Wednesday nights. Another class (online) begins in March. I’ve yet to finish my February lesson plans. It’s time to sta...

Respite

“Respite” is a term I had never really heard of until I became a mother of a child with special needs. Think of a respite caregiver as a babysitter, trained to work with children with special nee...

Austin had an EEG on Friday. Long story, short: It sucked. I don't have results from it or anything yet... assuming there were any readable results when it was all said and done! On Saturday Abi...

Abigail saw the Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon yesterday to re-check that fractured growth plate. She got herself a fancy new cast that she can swim in. She has to wear it for at least 3 more weeks...

Deja Vu.*

So on Saturday evening, Abby came bounding around the corner from the hallway into the living room and fell. Hard. After spending half the night (4 hours!) in the emergency room with her dad, we ...

Been a minute.

I used to be good about updating my blog... you know, years ago. Oops. So Abigail has taken up running. She did Girls on the Run this spring, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She successfully comp...

These Two

I thought I'd take a minute or two and update y'all on Abigail and Austin's latest adventures. Austin is actually home with me today. He had a little cold, but with him it rarely stays "just a...

And suddenly...

She's gone. Her social worker called me this morning and said, "I'll be there around noon to pick her up." And so he did. And so she's gone.

Still.

It feels like time is moving in slow motion. Some rotten things have been happening around here, and we're ready to move on and get some closure... but it hasn't happened yet. While they take the...

Hello, friends and family. Currently we are reminded that things don't always work out the way you planned. After some recent incidents in the home, we have decided that Kayla's placement with u...

I promised pictures of my children, so here they are. I know I'm biased, but I think they're awfully beautiful. Austin, my Smiley Guy, turns 7 years old 2 weeks from tomorrow. It's bitt...

Happenings.

I've neglected to keep you all properly updated, and for that I apologize. With the news that Open Diary is officially shutting down, I was reminded that I have a blog here that I might like to w...

Nothing Important To Say

It's been a nice, uneventful week. We've all had colds, but otherwise it's been good. Eric is on vacation, so we get to have quality couple time while the kids are at school and quality family ti...

Why?

Why are you adopting? I mean, what's the motivation? The other day I made a solo trip to the grocery store. As I was crossing the parking lot on my way in, I saw a tiny little girl, no older tha...

They Meet.

Today was the day our kids got to meet K for the first time. We packed them in the car to pick her up and bring her to our neck of the woods for the morning. It's over an hour each way, but the k...

A is for...

Book Description

My name is, in fact, Misty. I’m 34 years old. My husband Eric and I have been together for 16 years and blissfully married for 12. We have 2 children (Abigail, 11 and Austin, 10). Life has thrown us some interesting curve balls, and here you’ll read about our journey: the struggles, the triumphs, and the hilarity along the way. We are dancing in the minefields, and loving (almost) every minute of it.
