Book Description

I’m a professional proofreader and copywriter by trade and specialise in writing factual articles, web copy, that kind of thing. I’m also a self-published author, having written a book that is part memoir, part self help guide. But what I really want to do is write novels. The trouble is, the demon on my shoulder keeps telling me I’m not imaginative enough for creative writing … so this prose book is for experimentation.

Within these pages I’ll be trying out the art of creative writing and the results will most definitely be of variable quality. Sometimes I may descend to the depths of drunken rants; other pieces may border on the sublime.

Many of the posts here will start with a prompt, perhaps a sentence, a theme or a key word. I’m a big fan of Morgen Bailey’s Writer’s Block Workbooks and will be using those to inspire me. In those instances, the title of the post will be the sentence beginning, keyword or theme that’s prompted the writing.

At some time I may have a go at Julia Cameron’s famous “Morning Pages”. At some time I may do NaNoWriMo. I’m a great one for starting things but not keeping up with them, for jumping on the next writing bandwagon for a brief period of time.

Feedback is always welcome - whether from readers or fellow aspiring authors. But please be respectful, and occasionally kind.
