I decided to swing by the old place to pick up some stuff. Ashley says there’s not a lot, but I don’t trust her to gauge that.

After 3 weeks the property management company finally sent someone out. Our sink has not worked in 3 weeks. But that’s not an emergency. Okay then. Anyways I told them I’d be available on June 12th, between 1 pm and 1:30 PM, since they failed to show up the times we asked. They said they could be there the 10th. I said that won’t work. So yesterday at 9 am, the tech reaches out and says he’ll be there in 30 minutes. Okay? I won’t. I told you the 12th. You told me the 10th. and it’s the 8th.

You really expect me to leave my paid job to come babysit a maintenance person? No you let yourself in and fix the problem. Oh the property management doesn’t have maintenance teams? And does sub contractors? And they don’t have access? How exactly is that my problem? You can’t set a time or keep it and so i should have taken off 3 weeks of work to wait on someone to come out?

Turns out he DID have a key, let himself in and fixed the problem. Cool fine, whatever. I still expect to be compensated for the 3 weeks I could not use my sink, which forced an earlier moveout than I expected.

Whatever, I showed up after work, figured I would move a few things to storage then load up my car and go to the new place.

An important note. When we got the place we were given 1 key. I assumed (incorrectly) that this would work for the deadbolt and the doorknob lock. It did not. It only worked for the deadbolt. The first few weeks we had to remind seth and dakota to NOT lock the door lock or we would have to call maintenance to get back in, and with their track record. we’d just be locked out. I started leaving a window unlocked but didn’t tell anyone.

I get to the old place, use my key on the deadbolt and… the fucking doorknob is locked.
I contacted them immediately and let them know it’s locked and now I am unable to get into the apartment I am currently renting. Which is a violation of our lease agreement.

No response. Well. I break in, through the unlocked window. Unlock the door, move what I can and then lock the door back (by the doorknob) was there about an hour. No response from the management company.

I take stuff to storage, then home, my back is starting to ache, a sure sign I need to go lay down with an ice pack.

I left work around 350, got back to new place around 530. At 7 the property management calls me. I ignore it. They didn’t leave a voicemail.

They called and spoke to Ashley, informing her that the tech had made it back out there, but neither lock was locked.

Fucking hell. The neighbors saw me ‘break in’, i didn’t close the window all the way because I was sure there was no door key, so no one would be able to get in through that. Meaning they would have to get a locksmith and so on.

Stupid of me to think my neighbors wouldn’t try to rob me. Of course there’s ‘nothing’ valuable left. some odds and ends. a lot of curtain rods?

I did forget the damn vacuum is in there though. Since cleaning still needs to happen. So that’s annoying. And I’m sure the tech didn’t close the window or anything. So my fault but we might be out of some things. :|

I’ve already been contacting the property management every week asking for compensation because of this, it’s been 2 weeks and 6 days that they took to fix the issue. Plus they locked me out of my apartment as well.

Will they give me something? Maybe. I’m already paid up on rent, I’m just making this as difficult as possible for them.

And I was right, Ashley did not gauge things correctly. She left things upstairs so now I have to move them, and clean the entire upstairs. Still have to remove 2 sets of curtains, but that’s expected. We will see what happens.

I also plan on accusing the tech of stealing from us since the window screen will be off of our window and left open. Well maybe not accusing the tech, but saying our things our missing, and someone climbed in the window.

Fuck them, they are a terrible company and I hate everything about them.
