Cher turned 80 earlier this week.  She keeps on keeping on, as they say.  Had her ex-husband and former band mate, Sonny Bono, not slammed into that tree while skiing back in January 1998 (at age 62) on that ski slope in South Lake Tahoe, he would be 91 years old today. May he rest in peace.  Maybe one day, I'll stop by his final resting place in Cathedral City, CA and pay my respects.  Watch out for those trees while skiing, by the way.

The Notorious B.I.G. had a birthday this week, on 05/21.  Had he still been alive, he would have turned 54.  Dead or not, I still listen to his music.  As far as my musical tastes and Spotify playlists go, "Biggie" will never die.  As it stands and will likely remain the case for the next few decades, I will continue to listen to his music, which is a million times better than what passes for rap these days.

Speaking of rap, rapper Rob Base died yesterday (05/22) at the age of 59.  He had cancer, which I believe he had not disclosed to the general public.  As far as I know, he only released two songs during his career, only one of which was a major hit (It Takes Two, released in 1988).  The other song, 1989's "Joy and Pain", may not have charted, but I still like the song regardless.  Again, these two songs are better than every rap song you might hear on the radio today, assuming you still listen to the radio these days.  I usually don't because today's music is so bad.  If anything, I'll stick to the local oldies/old school station any day.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert also died this week (05/21), after having been on the air for just under 11 years.  I can't say that I'm upset or disappointed by this turn of events.  I never cared for The Late Show, regardless of who was hosting it, mostly because I wouldn't stay up that late watching anything on television.  Secondarily, I have never found Colbert funny or engaging in any way.  I don't care much for political satire anyway, nor do I find it even remotely entertaining.  I would have never listened to anything he had to say, regardless of time of day.  And if it matters, Jimmy Kimmel is not funny either.  I wouldn't be devastated if his show were to go next.

Though I do not follow auto racing or NASCAR in any capacity, I saw that stock car driver Kyle Busch also died this past week (05/21).  He was 41.  I'm going to call that way too young to have passed, though as of this writing, it is my understanding that Busch died from a severe case of pneumonia that gave way to sepsis.  It had been previously reported that he may have been in the midst of some type of health crisis on the day that he died, as I believe that had been coughing up blood earlier that day.  Regardless, he's gone now and he left way too soon.  Sepsis is a mother fucker.

Speaking of sepsis, Mom has a birthday next week (05/28).
