Waiting in Poetry

Baby, it's been so long since I've seen your face
And it's been so long since the scent of you has wafted through my air
But the ghost of you lingers
And now you're asking for more time
But, baby, you know if I'm in your heart
Or if you're well on your way to moving on

So tell me if you want me, 
Tell me if you need me, 
Tell me if you love me
Because you know who I am,
What I do, and how I love you

And, baby, if you think you aren't enough
You change the way I think every time we talk
You warm the cold and calm the fear
And you do it just by being yourself

So, baby, you know I'll wait forever
I will hold the foundation we built
I will be there for you
And, baby, I will keep this safe space open 
But I need you to tell me it's what you want
