I Am Stockard Channing in The Stuff That's Not Interesting But Is The Most Interesting Stuff I'll Write

I’m getting used to a lot of things I’ve never had to get used to. I have a big kitchen now (or relatively big considering how small my last one had been) but I have a much, much smaller refrigerator and freezer. Meaning I can cook, but I have nowhere to put leftovers. I have more cabinets and shelves than I really know what to do with at the moment.

I am getting into a good rhythm, although I’m going to bed far too early… I find that mostly has to do with exhaustion, but I’m not immediately alarmed by it. Going to bed at 6pm and waking up at 3am really isn’t the tragedy that people seem to think it is. I am in my best moods in the morning and what am I really missing by going to bed so early?

I’ve had some hiccups though.

My stairs broke and I immediately had to get them fixed. I have to buy all these little gizmos for the place and it’s just a bit overwhelming. It’s nice being closer to everything, having access to food… but I’m not used to the level of attention and cost required for everything.

You know, my friends and I would often get drunk and try to figure out “Which First Wives Club character are you?” We would get into little arguments about who we were, arguing over who was Bette Midler or Diane Keaton, but I was always insist that I was Goldie Hawn.

However, after this whole moving and house situation, I have realized that I am Stockard Channing. Her character is described as the most determined. If she wants something, she just does it. The movie drives this point home by having her jump off the roof of her apartment to her death, which gets the plot rolling.

I ignored everything and had complete tunnel vision about moving here. While I love it, I definitely now see that there were probably some better options for me that I was completely unwilling to entertain because I had to have it my way. I’m like that with a lot of things.

Ugh, I need a martini…

Enjoy that martini.

Your stairs broke!?

The moulding that runs along the edge of each stair popped off, so I had to go buy silicone and call maintenance, but I bought the wrong silicone because I didn't know there were different types of silicone and blah blah blah.
