My son asked if I wanted him to come over and I told him I would ask hubby and bubby said he can come tomorrow and we will have a roast. So I asked him if he also wanted to come for breakfast and to let me know. I haven’t heard or read anything from him yet so I figure he had another sleepless night. So I will wait. I hate waiting for things especially when someone doesn’t finish a fix it job totally. Then they wonder why it’s damaged or broken.

Onto something else....

I am still thinking about what more i can do to see if I really do have a mold problem and where it originated from. As far as I can see I know of three places and each one it seems to be getting worse. I do think or am pretty sure the mold is in places i can not see but I can’t take anything off to see for sure and the landlady won’t because she thinks it’s not a big deal or she thinks it’s too expensive to fix.
So what I want to do is call someone and ask questions and see if I have any options that I can afford. Because so far what I have read it’s $25.00 a square foot and I got about 3 feet in one place and another two feet above the toilet and a wall and a bit in the laundry room because there is particle board being used as a wall and it has holes in it because it was made that way.
The only question I have is how can any of this mold be my fault when it was water damage and cords were broken and the water came from somewhere else because of the rain or watering flower pots? The cord that had to be replaced had a crack where it screed on to the opening where the water comes out and how am I suppose to know it was cracked if I am never looking at it because stuff was in there? And I also didn’t know that the shelf was warped until I took my stuff out and saw the black on the edges of the board. And the other thing there is a crack in it and I think it’s a cover to cover up the pipes in the ceiling near the toilet.
The thing I don’t get is why any home doesn’t get inspected at least once a year to look for these kinds of things and to make sure the damage isn’t going to be expensive to fix.
The landlady told me that she can’t afford to get me a new vanity and fix the problem because I am not paying enough rent. I think that is bull shit because I figure every landlord has a fund for things like this and I also think that insurance would sometimes cover the repairs.

I really don’t know what to do. Because everyday that this isn’t fixed I worry about hubby’s and mine breathing issues and what else can happen because things don’t get fixed.
And if I argue too much about this the landlady will ask me to leave and I really can not afford to move or pay rent somewhere else because it will defiantly cost more and everything will not be included.
But the one thing I am doing is making sure hubby and I and anyone who comes over knows about the issues and can decide if they want to stay or not.
The thing I don’t get is why not have someone take a look and see how bad the problem is and then decide from there what should or shouldn’t be done. I wonder how much that would cost?

Onto something else…

So to nights dinner is going to be pork chops and red potatoes and carrots or frozen vegetables. Not very exciting but it’s food that goes in and then comes out and maybe it will even taste good?
Well I just got off the phone with a company but for them to come and tell me if it’s bad enough or not will cost $150.00 and I will have to ask hubby because I can’t afford to pay that and not even 1/2 of that.
I feel like such a heel because I think this is important and the landlady doesn’t and I am afraid I am going to end up really sick and maybe die because of this.

I hate cheap people.

Well, I need to get some things done so I will stop here…

Do have a great day…

I really don't understand any of this. Why would you put out money or take any action regarding the mold problem? You are a renter. This is not a renter's responsibility. It's why some people choose to rent over owning, because issues like this are the owner's responsibility. If the owner isn't charging enough rent to cover expenses, that's her problem, not yours. Surely you have a lease agreement that spells out who is responsible for what? Or a government agency you can complain to? Insurance would probably cover this issue unless it's from owner negligence. No matter what, you shouldn't be having to deal with it at ALL. I hope you are documenting everything you are doing, everything the owner tells you, everything the owner does or doesn't do. Take pictures.

well the thing is it has to get a lot worse before it gets fixed and then it might be too late. And she is one of those who fixes everything herself so having someone come who actually knows what they are talking about will never happen. And I have done everything she told me to do and it's no better then when it smelled like pine sol but now it's starting to smell like mold again. And I don't have a camera so I can't take any pictures.
I will get my way with this but it's going to take some time....and if I have to pay then I can deduct the money from my rent once I go to the rental board.. I really dislike cheap people.

This is a serious health issue for you and your husband. I get that you seem to have limited funds but it infuriates me the way someone like your landlord is abusing you and taking advantage of that.

I know...and what I don't get is that it's like $150.00 for someone to come and look and determine if it does need fixing and how much it will cost. The guy wanted to come and have a look but I had to lie and tell him I need to talk to hubby but the truth is the landlady has to pay him....I have noticed that the more I rent and the more others rent the issues they have and the landlords are too cheap to fix it so they evict you and get someone who doesn't care like a drug abuser. But I will be asking the landlady if someone can come and have a look....

theKat Jodie ⋅ September 17, 2022

call the health dept... they will have to come in person to look at it

Jodie theKat ⋅ September 17, 2022

But will they come and not charge me?

theKat Jodie ⋅ September 18, 2022

health pet should not charge anyone. that is their job

Jodie theKat ⋅ September 18, 2022

okay thanks.

theKat September 17, 2022

your land lord should take care of this asap!!!! mold can kill you! my neighbor was a doctor... he had mold in his home and it have lots of pain, lung issues and memory loss to the point he had to give up his practice! I have heard of homes having to be torn down because of mold.... and if you have mold it also harms your land lord if she is living there

Jodie theKat ⋅ September 17, 2022

Well all we can hope is she gets sick too then maybe she will realize I was right.
But this family went through much worse then what I am and it effected her three year old son and her husband...
