Correct me and give me the right answer so I can research it and find out where I went wrong or I can ask a professional to get more information.
I was talking to this guy yesterday on face book and he was telling me because he is so poor he has one huge pot of meals for a week and he keeps it in the same pot he cooks it in and reheats it about 6 or 7 times. I tried to tell him that is not a good thing to do and it needs to be in something smaller or in the freezer. And I even used the food safe thing but all he said is that he is fine and doesn’t have any ill effects. I also told him that after a day or so that the food starts to go bad but he says he watches it very carefully. I also told him that the more it gets heated up the dryer the food gets and eventually burns and that is not good. But after all of this he got on the defensive and wouldn’t even ask a professional like I told him to.
I can understand people being poor and can’t afford much but you don’t put big pots of food into the fridge. This is one of the first things I learned when I started cooking. At the time I didn’t know the exact reason but I knew no one I knew ever did this so I didn’t do it.
And if you are going to have any cooked food in the fridge you can only keep it for a maximum of 4 day, then whatever it is changes to something not good.
I don’t mean to think all men are idiots because I know a lot who are very bright but is it a man thing to put cooked food you used the pot for in the fridge? And keep it there for a week? Even hubby says that is not a good thing to do but then he knows the science around that kind of thing.

Onto something else…
Well yesterday I did some laundry and I have more to do and I have changed one bed and one more to go so I am wanting to do that today.
And last nights dinner turned out pretty good for chicken drumsticks and mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. And tonight’s dinner is going to be pork chops and rice and mixed frozen vegetables.

Onto something else....

Yesterday I called Weight watchers and told them to cancel my membership because there are no meetings close by me and it would take me about an hour to get to. So what I am doing now is the Intermittent eating and so far I have lost 4 pounds since July 30th. So this is what I am going to do to lose the rest of my weight. I figure eating once a day and eating whatever I want then I won’t be starving myself of the things I really want to eat and I don’t feel stuffed or sick after I do eat.
If you are doing the intermittent eating how many hours do you go before you eat and how many hours do you eat for?

Onto something else…

I have a question for you? Is welfare and SS the same? Here in Canada welfare is totally separate from any old age pensions and for the welfare part we get something called G.A.I.N. which is a guaranteed Income.
This is what it is…

If you are 65+ years old and receive the federal Old Age Security pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement payments, you could get up to $83 per month to ensure your income stays above a certain amount

I will be getting this in about 6 years.
I can’t believe I am already thinking about this and if I will be better off money wise or not. But i have been told that I will be okay with the old age pension and the gain and the CPP if they have deemed I worked enough.
Why is it people always worry about money? No wonder it’s so evil.

Well, I need to stop here and get started on my day. My groceries will be here in about 2 hours so I need to wake up some more.
Do have a great day..
Be Kind, Be Calm, Be Safe and Behave.

I find that people get defensive when other people try to tell them they are doing something wrong. I think it all depends on HOW you say it (type it). My dad used to always say "It's not way you say, it's how you say it". And, keep it brief. Give your helpful hints in a kind way, then let it go. Don't keep coming back with more arguments (you don't say if you did that or not).

Jodie Anaiss ⋅ August 03, 2022

Well I did because I was trying to show him the proof so he can research it himself. And I don't think I was too defensive I was just telling him the facts.
The only time I will tell someone they are wrong is if I can show them the facts otherwise I will look it up myself or ask someone I know who knows the facts.
I hope I don't sound too defensive if I do please let me know then I will try to explain myself.

Anaiss Jodie ⋅ August 03, 2022

No I meant that he probably got defensive. It sounds like he didn't ask for your advice and you kind of got insistent about it. I don't ever tell someone they are wrong. I'm sure you meant well.

Jodie Anaiss ⋅ August 03, 2022

He did because he doesn't know the basics of cooking and I just wanted him to know that he can do better. But I am guessing him being so poor he has the mind set of a poor person and doesn't want to change.

Beret August 03, 2022

I don't think you were incorrect with the information you were providing but from what you say he was not receptive to the information and you should have just backed off rather than telling him more. Let it be. What's it to you?

Jodie Beret ⋅ August 03, 2022

Well he is sort of a friend and I wouldn't want him to get sick and die because of his stupidity and I thought since he didn't know that the information might change his mind. But I have realized that he is an idiot and doesn't want the facts or the knowledge.
It seems to me that there are not many people who are receptive to much these days.

Anaiss Jodie ⋅ August 03, 2022

In general people are not receptive to people telling them things they don't want to hear, or people trying to impose their own views on to them. I doubt your friend was in danger of getting sick or dying, seems like he's been doing just fine so far.

Jodie Anaiss ⋅ August 03, 2022

Well, yeah we all do fine but the more we learn the better we live longer and more productive lives. And all I did was try to get him to research what I said.
I have a question for you...?
If I saw that you could be doing something better and I have the proof for it wouldn't you want to learn more so you would be educated better? And by the way he has deleted me as his friend but I can still see his posts.

Anaiss Jodie ⋅ August 03, 2022

To answer your question, no. I don't need someone on Facebook trying to tell me that they know better and that they have proof. I don't need some random person who isn't any more educated than I am, to "educate" me. That sounds like forcing something on me. Posts like that are one of the reasons (besides too much political stuff) that I left Facebook. Like I said earlier, I don't mind someone expressing their opinion in a nice, not-forceful way but it sounds like you impose your opinions as if you are an expert. I'm sorry but people just don't respond well to that and I wouldn't either. I think you need to step back and take a more gentle, less judgmental approach. You aren't an expert on anything (and neither am I).

Jodie Anaiss ⋅ August 03, 2022

I really appreciate what you have said.
But the one thing you need to know about me is that I do have a bad habit of telling people especially those I care about how they can do things better and different and I always show the proof. Like I have told my son many times how to get his sleep back to normal and I call him an idiot because he won't even try what I said because he knows it works. And I do tell others like my friends that they are wrong or they do things the wrong way and once I show them they agree with me.

I just hope that we can teach each other and become better friends. Thank yoy so much for your wisdom.

Anaiss Jodie ⋅ August 03, 2022

I appreciate your comment. I just don't think any of us have the right to call anyone an idiot because they disagree with us or refuse to follow our advice. And I would NEVER presume to tell someone else they are wrong or they do things the wrong way. Who am I to tell them that? I suspect you have lost some friends over your belief that you know better than others do.

Jodie Anaiss ⋅ August 03, 2022

Well, I have but then those are the ones that can't see the facts or even think about what and why they are doing it. Question for you? Has your mother or father told you how to do something and when you did try it it did work just like they said? or are parents and siblings different? And when I have told my son he is an idiot I always tell him why and show him what he is doing wrong and my parents do the same. And later when I do listen what they have said is always right. And the friends I do have most of them do things right and I have never told them what to do or not to do.

Beret Jodie ⋅ August 04, 2022

Wait a minute, you call your son an idiot? You don’t see anything wrong with that?

Jodie Beret ⋅ August 04, 2022

But I also tell him why and then he thinks about it and agrees that his actions were not too bright. Like all the times he quit his job because the travel time took too long and he hated the hours and was always late. And there for he got fired and because of all of this he is now unemployed and on welfare. And he thinks there is that perfect job out there for him but he also doesn't have the education and he will never get the money he needs to live comfortably. So what would you call some one like that? But the key is to always tell them why you said that so they understand and maybe do something about it to change.

Beret Jodie ⋅ August 04, 2022

You probably would have more success in motivating your son by choosing not to call him an idiot. For one thing, ask yourself, is he living up to your assessment, i.e., that's he's an idiot? Sort of sounds like it. Of all the people in the world someone's mother should be more supportive choose better words. Seriously.

Jodie Beret ⋅ August 04, 2022

I have done that but the pattern is always the same. he gets a job and then for some reason he decides to hate the job and just up and quits and never comes back. People don't do that they are thankful that they have a job and can live better. Even hubby just shakes his head. In the last 10 years my son has had more then 20 jobs and is now on welfare don't you think there is something really wrong? And I have also told him if he really hates his jib start looking for another one while he is still working so he can just be paid without any breaks.

Well, depending on the food, keeping it in the fridge for a week might be fine. But reheating it that many times is another matter.

He could easily use a small pan to reheat what he was going to eat that day. It would also take less time to heat up, if he wasn't heating up the large amount.

Jodie Cathy ⋅ August 05, 2022

Yeah but he said he is too poor and only has one pot, which I don't believe and I also tried to show him the safe food facts but he said it doesn't apply to him because he watches it very carefully for a week. He is just an idiot who doesn't know how to cook. I even told him his food bank would have containers and maybe some pots but he just ignored me then unfriended me. Which means I am right and he is still an idiot but never called him it.

theKat August 07, 2022

welfare is for the poor or unemployed SS is money government took out of your checks your whole life. usually a few thousand a month but is based on income earned so if you made little and did not work much I guess it could be low as 100 a month??

Jodie theKat ⋅ August 08, 2022

Who decides how much SS you get and how old do you have to be to get it?
